How to Build a Daily Habit with a Streak Tracker

Learn how to use the Habit Tracker to build lasting streaks. Covers habit design, how long it really takes to form a habit, and the 'never miss twice' rule.

  1. Step 1: Add your habits
Start with 2–3 habits maximum. More than 5 is overwhelming and dramatically reduces completion rates. Enter a clear, specific habit name: 'Walk 15 minutes' is better than 'Exercise'.
  2. Step 2: Define each habit clearly
A good habit has a clear completion criteria: 'Read 10 pages', 'Do 20 push-ups', 'Meditate for 5 minutes'. Vague habits like 'Be healthier' cannot be ticked off and tracked.
  3. Step 3: Check in daily
At the end of each day (or during the day as you complete habits), tap the checkbox for each completed habit. Consistency of the check-in itself is more important than perfect completion.
  4. Step 4: Watch your streak grow
Your streak counter increases for every consecutive day you complete a habit. The visual streak creates a powerful psychological incentive to maintain the chain.
  5. Step 5: Apply the 'never miss twice' rule
Missing one day is an accident. Missing two days in a row is the start of a new (bad) habit. If you miss a day, make the next day a non-negotiable.
